Serbia is definitely getting a third golf course. Mayor of Zrenjanin Čedomir Janjić and the President of Golf Club “Sava” Ivica Suturović have officially signed a building contract for the golf centre in Zrenjanin’s City Hall.
After months of negotiations, agreement has been reached, by which Zrenjanin will receive a true golf oasis – 9 hole golf course that satisfies international competition standards, driving range, club house, parking and other facilities. Golf centre in Zrenjanin will be unique in this region, and investment value is estimated to be close to one milion euros. President of Golf Club “Sava” Ivica Suturović has pointed out that this construction project will allow the forming of golf school, but also this course will serve as a regional junior golf centre.
-Serbia has ove 750 registered golfers, and one third of that number are children. For a long time we are conducting a high quality effort on popularisation of this sport, and we are convinced that the new course will contribute to the growing trend. We are extremely grateful to the City of Zrenjanin for recognising our potential, as well as Golf Association of Serbia for its great support – said Suturović.
First man of GC “Sava” announced that new golf centre will spread on the surface of 16,2 ha, and it will have the longest driving range in Serbia, length 350 meters. Serbia will receive its third Golf course, besides those in Belgrade, Ada Ciganlija and in Žabalj. This will be the most ambitious golf project in Serbia for the past five years.
Mayor of Zrenjanin, Čedomir Janjić announced that building this golf centre, city will solve an issue of one, so far, neglected part of the city, and therefore additionally develop the city infrastructure.
– We are currently developing more than one project of national interes here in Zrenjanin. Besides golf centre, we are working on the para-Olympic training centre, as well as constructing a racing track for cars and motorcycles. This way, we are giving the City new development possibilities – said Janjić.
General Secretary of the Golf Association of Serbia Irena Suturović – Bogdanović, has pointed out that this project has a great importance for golf development in Serbia.
– This project will be extremely significant, not just for Golf Club “Sava” but for the Golf Association of Serbia as well, it will allow us new opportunities to make this, extremely popular individual sport worldwide, alive and just as popular in Serbia – stated Irena Suturović-Bogdanović.
In the first fase of construction of the Zrenjanin’s golf centre, it is planned to build a cub house and a driving range, which will give us the opportunity to practice in the new centre by the end of this year. Real game on the 9 beautiful fairways and greens is expected within 2017.
